You can ger older version os Microsoft Remote Desktop for OS X at the App Center,
Here is the link: https://install.appcenter.ms/orgs/rdmacios-k2vy/apps/microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac/distribution_groups/all-users-of-microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac
I think version 10.3.2 may be compatible with OS X 10.11

Thank You for your link, Mr. Guedes,
but unluckily the oldest version to download there ist 10.3.2 (Beta of Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac).
10.3.2 does NOT work on El Capitan, i tried it in OS X 10.11.6. You can't install it,
it says "work only from 10.12 up".
For Mac OS X 10.11 you need definitely an older version than Microsoft Remote Desktop 10!
I would need at least the Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.1, but I can't get it anywhere.
I tried it on a MacMini with Mac OS 10.14 Mojave and Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 and it worked immediately.
I need it to make home office due to the corona crisis, it seems with older computers
you are out of time and not welcome. )C:Best regards
Stefan

HI
1.yes.the lowest mac os requirement support for Microsoft Remote desktop 10.3.2 is MaxOS 10.12 or later.
2.we need to check the compatibility for our current Mac computer and confirm it meet the lowest mac os requirement support for MaxOS 10.12.then try to upgrade it to MaxOS 10.12.
Check compatibility
You can upgrade to macOS Sierra from OS X Lion or later on any of the following Mac models. Your Mac also needs at least 2GB of memory and 8.8GB of available storage space.
MacBook introduced in late 2009 or later
MacBook Air introduced in late 2010 or later
MacBook Pro introduced in mid 2010 or later
Mac mini introduced in mid 2010 or later
iMac introduced in late 2009 or later
Mac Pro introduced in mid 2010 or later
3.after we upgrade our system to MaxOS 10.12 successfully ,we can install Microsoft Remote desktop 10.3.2 again on your new Maxos 10.12.

I too, am wondering about this as my mid-2009 MacBook Pro is capped at os 10.11.6 and cannot download the current version of remote desktop. I need to be able to connect to my work computer from home during this time.

I have exactly the same problem. I have an older macbook (pre 2009 i think), El Capitan v10.11.6. I cant find a version of Microsoft Remote Desktop that works. Are there any alternative clients that are recommended?

I also have this problem, I have a Mac Pro 4.1 with 32g of memory which I'm not prepared to upgrade because the current Mac Pros are way too expensive. Can you please give details on how to download a version of RDP for Mac which is supported on El Capitan. This is pretty urgent as you can all imagine, I can't work from home without it.Monday, March 30, 2020 1:10 AM

Hi there!
After some extensive search, it seems that I managed to find a working link to download Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac version 10.2.13.
I just installed it on my Macbook Pro 3.1 from 2007 running El Capitan 10.11.6 and it seem to be working well :)

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the comment! Just wanted to add that I have been using the 10.2.13 version from the link I mentioned since yesterday and it works flawlessly, so I can recommend it for everyone else with Macbook Pro 3.1 and El Capitan.
Cheers!
