Weird issue... RRS feed

  • Question

  • We use SQL Server 2008 R2 to host our DW. On top of this DW, we have built cubes using SQL Server Analysis Services 2008 (SSAS). About two years ago, our company got acquired by another company and our network team states that they have established a trusted relationship between the "parent" network domain and our domain. I have two users who belong to the parent network domain and who would like to gain access to our SSAS cubes. One of them has a login id on our domain too (in addition to the parent network domain) and when she uses that id, she is able to connect to our cubes. However, when she uses the "parent" domain network id and password, she gets an error message (see below). I have ensured that the users are part of the SSAS security by explicitly using their parent domain\user-id. Why aren't they able to see the cubes when using their parent domain credentials? Appreciate any help.

    Error Title: Microsoft Office Excel

Error Description: The following system error occurred: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

NOTE: They are able to ping our DW server.
