Invalid Canary RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have the Exchange 2010 MP installed for an Exchange 2010 SP1 with update rollup 1 installed, but I am seeing this event error every 10 minutes or so:

    Log Name:      Application
    Source:        MSExchange Control Panel
    Date:          10/12/2010 8:51:06 AM
    Event ID:      38
    Task Category: General
    Level:         Error
    Keywords:      Classic
    User:          N/A
    Computer:      mail3.domain.com
    Description:
    Current User: 'domain\extest_5d395dd030274'
Exchange Control Panel detected an invalid canary from request for URL 'https://mail.domain.com/ecp/RulesEditor/InboxRules.svc/GetList'.
Canary in cookie: 'bf96c279-41cd-415c-954a-5bea0fa23a22' mismatch with canary in header/form: ''.

I there a planned fix for this forthcoming?  Another post suggested that:

Then, the most possible cause is “Test-EcpConnectivity” task. When verify request canary, an unnecessary error log is written to windows event. The cmdlet is running frequently in the exchange 2010 MP when you are using SCOM

The issue will be fixed in the future update patch

Workaround is to see if the “Test-EcpConnectivity” task could be disallowed in the SCOM temporarily.

  • I had opened a case with Microsoft on this and apparently it will be fixed in the next rollup. They better, this is flooding the event viewer and it is difficult to see anything legit between these events.

  • Hi Dan,

Any news on the planned fix? Is it still scheduled for release by the end of the calendar year? Where do we go for updates on this issue?

    Thanks.

  • Any news on this yet? Applied Exchange 2010 SP1 Rollup2 and we still see this in the CAS server events.

  • I have also applied Exchange 2010 SP1 Rollup 2 and getting this issue even worse than before. It is flooding our event logs with useless information.
