Database Configuration Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, i am going to build private cloud by using Win Server 2012 R2 & System Center 2012 R2. I had installed ADK8.1 and ADK has installed the SQL server automatically.

Is the SQL server installed on my server or new SQL server has to be installed ?

Moreover, when i was going to install the System Center Virtual Machine Manager (in the database configuration step), I got an error that the sql server installed is not supported. Please suggest me what i have to do, should i install new SQL server after removing the existing SQL ?

Please suggest, how can i get rid of this problem.

    Thanks.

  • VMM 2012 R2 does not support SQL Express anymore. See requirements:

  • For VMM the only aspects of the ADK required are WinPE and Deployment Tools. I wouldn't install the reset of the ADK on a VMM server.

As Sam said, VMM does not support SQL server express (which is what gets installed with the ADK).

The licence for System Center 2012 includes SQL Server standard for use by system center only. So for VMM you could install SQL server on the same server (fine for labs and demos, but not really in production - you install SQL separately).

If the machine you're trying to install VMM on is clean apart from the ADK I'd blow it away and start all over again, especially if this is to be a production VMM install...
