Explorer.exe stops running when closing windows RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

When I close a windows (windows explorer, network connections etc.) the explorer.exe stops running. Each time. I could reproduce it.

In Eventvrw it says the following:

Faulting application Explorer.EXE, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549b091, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x00000000, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x09e9ccd1, process id 0x1710, application start time 0x01c7fc75805e364c.

Normally the module is unknown, last time GrooveIntlResource.dll was mentioned.

I have this since a few days and don't know why. Vista Ultimate, EN, 32-bit

    Could anybody help me?

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Fellows,

I think I’ve got to deal with this problem. In my case, I solved this issue uninstalling Free Hex Editor, from HDD Software. Now, I’m quite sure the problem should be with an incompatible program installed in the computer.

To get to this point, first I went to the “Problems Reports and Solutions” in Windows Vista Control Panel. There, I’ve searched for this problem, and the exact date when it started.

Then, I went to the “Programs and Features”, again in Windows Vista Control Panel, and searched for the softwares I’ve installed just before that date. That was my clue. I’ve realized that I’d installed Free Hex Editor.

I hope it helps you like it did to me.

    Good luck.
