The File Header Checksum does not Match the computed checksum RRS feed

  • Question

  • Trying to reinstall Vista Home Premium 32bit, and I keep getting the error that "The File Header Checksum does not Match the computed checksum" everytime I try to boot from a CD. Trying to start the CD from my desktop in safe-mode leads to Vista crashing.

The cause of this issue is probably on the hardware side.

I suggest unplugging all your unnecessary hardware devices such as sound card, network card, USB external drives and printers and then set to boot from the DVD drive. If the issue persists, you may need to contact your computer manufacturer to check the hardware such as the DVD drive, the hard drive and the RAM.

If you have a Windows XP disk, you can test if you can boot into the Windows XP disk to install Windows XP.
