XP Mode in Windows 8 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Is it legal to have XP mode in Windows 8? What I mean is, I use Hyper-V in Windows 8 and import vhd file in XP mode after I extract it from XP Mode Installer. Then I have Windows XP in Hyper-V.

  • Hi,

    They are right.

Windows XP Mode will not be supported on Windows 8. Windows XP Mode is a Windows 7 Professional feature designed to support Windows XP application
    compatibility.

With the end of extended support for Windows XP in April 2014, Microsoft has decided not to develop Windows XP Mode for Windows 8.

  • No, XP Mode was only licensed to run under Windows 7.

I think you'd find that it wouldn't activate in Hyper-V anyway...
