XP search file contents RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Getting a strange error with XP search when choosing to look for "A word or phrase in the file".

If a Word document has a phrase or word highlighted for a grammatical error (underlined in green), search fails to find the words underlined.

Opening the document and choosing to ignore the error (no longer underlined in green), then searching for the same word/phrase gives the correct results.

From KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309173/EN-US/ the Cause and Symptoms are not strictly relevant, but Method 2 in the resolution does seem to work.

This isn't really an ideal solution as it impacts performance, and as I understand it, the Word document should be a known file type?

    Office package is 2007.

Any further info or assistance would be appreciated.

  • bump for any info, seeing the same issue when using windows search for word docs (and other office files) with grammatical errors, having indexing on does work but worried about possible issues with performance having the cisvc service always running
