FCS 6 Servers Reporting Server & Service Configuration? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I am configuring a six-servers FCS Architecture.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc901475.aspx

    SDB1 --> Database Collection Server (Database service and Workstation components)

    SRS1 --> Database Reporting Server (Database Services, Integration Services, and Workstation components)

    VCS1 --> Collection Server

    VMS1 --> Management Server

    VRS1 --> Reporting Server (Reporting Services, Reporting Services component)

    VDS1 --> Deployment Server

    Now  am trying to configure the Reporting Servive on VRS1 using http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb404238.aspx but when running "Surface Area Configuration for Features" .

    But when it asks for the Machine name is it is the VRS1 (Reporting Service Server) or the SRS1 (Reporting Server Database) which should be entered?

    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

  • I tried

    By default, Management Studio uses the Reporting Services Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) provider to establish a connection to the report server. If the WMI provider is not installed correctly, you will get the following error when attempting to connect to the report server:

    Cannot connect to <your server name>. The Reporting Services WMI provider is not installed or is misconfigured (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient).

    To resolve this error, you should reinstall the software. For all other cases, as a temporary work-around, you can connect to the report server through the SOAP endpoint:

    • In the Connect to Server dialog box in Management Studio, in Server Name, type the report server URL. By default, it is http://<your server name>/reportserver. Or if you are using SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services, it is http://<your server name>/reportserver$sqlexpress.

    To resolve the error so that you can connect using the WMI provider, you should run Setup to repair Reporting Services, or reinstall Reporting Services.

    But still the error with the WMI!!!!

    SNMP WMI Provider (Installed) on VRS1

    Windows Server 2008 - SQL Server 2005

    After applying MDAC 2.8 the error changed to:

    HTTP Error 500.23 - Internal Server Error
    An ASP.NET setting has been detected that does not apply in Integrated managed pipeline mode.
    Module ConfigurationValidationModule
    Notification BeginRequest
    Handler AboMapperCustom-1969093
    Error Code 0x80070032
    Requested URL http://votfcsrs1:80/reportserver
    Physical Path C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\Reporting Services\ReportServer
    Logon Method Not yet determined
    Logon User Not yet determined

    This error 500.23 translates to - An ASP.NET httpHandlers configuration does not apply in Managed Pipeline mode.

    Check the httpHandlers configuration in IIS. Try following:

    1. Open Server Manager
    2. Select Roles>Web Server (IIS)>IIS Manager>Select the Server>Application Pools
    3. Select the appPool that your asp.net app is running under>Click on 'Advanced Settings' from the right hand pane.
    4. Under Advanced Settings>General>Managed Pipeline Mode, select "Classic"
    5. Recycle app pool and test your app.

    so then... a new error:

    Reporting Services error:

    • The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information. (rsServerConfigurationError)
      • Access to the path 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\Reporting Services\ReportServer\RSReportServer.config' is denied.
