AD group does not show in audience rule - SharePoint 2010

Question
-
Hi, I have SP 2010.
I have an AD Group called ABCGROUP. It shows up fine in SharePoint sites.
However when I go to Central Panel > User Profiles > Manage Audience > Audience Rules --- The ABCGROUP is not recognized.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
Do you import the audience groups as part of the user profile sync?
Seems like that might be nessesary to be able to use them as audiences even though they might show up in the site without them beeing imported.

Hi,
Are there similar named groups? Like do you have ABCGroup, ABCGroup1 etc.?
Thanks, Soumya | MCITP, SharePoint 2010

Make sure this group is a Security group and not a Distribution group.
