Link between 2 webparts RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have 2 different sharepoint portal, 1 is for internal/intranet and another 1 is for public/internet. In intranet portal, I have added 1 webpart for announcement. In internet portal also I have added 1 announcement webpart. What I want to do is upon our user want to add new announcement, there is 1 option (listbox) for he or she to select whether to publish the announcement in the intranet portal, internet portal or both. The option to add this new announcement is only at the intranet. Now I have added both webparts in the intranet and internet portal but I don't have any idea about how to link between the two to make it works like I want. Appreciate if anybody can help. Thanks.

  • WEb parts just display information stored elsewhere in SharePoint.  In the case of announcements its presenting information stored in an announcements list.  So what you are talking about doing is copying or moving a list item from one list to another based on a swicth selection when entering the item.  The best way to do this would be by using an event handler that fires when an item is created in the list.  That requires custom programming.  There is no way to do this without writing code.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Can you explain a bit on the event handler? Or maybe can you please give me any useful site/link for this?

    Thanks.

  • Take a look at the following MSDN articles on Event receivers in SharePoint 2010.
