Child domain DNS RRS feed

  • Question

  • When creating a new child domain, the DNS and GC are de-selected.  Is it the best practice?

As the client in child domain cannot reach the forest DNS, what will be DNS configured in the child domain?

If not, how to add the DNS back?

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your question.

    • It is better to select the DNS and GC when creating a new child domain.
    • If the client in child domain cannot reach the forest DNS ,check the forwarder of the DNS in the child domain.
    • You just need to add the DNS role back, and the DNS records will be replicated from forest DNS to child DNS. Remember to change zone replication scope to forest.
