  • Do you any NLB, multiple WFE ...

Does the issue occur if checked directly on the Web Server.

  • Hello

no, we're not using any NLB or WFE and yes, we are getting the problem event connected into the server.

  • Hi Jerome,

Can you check whether the services are configured as per the TechNet article Configure reporting for Project Server 2010 ---http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee662106(v=office.14).aspx

  • Hello

Yes, this was step by step the procedure we followed to configure reporting.

The thing I don't understand is that the message is coming sporadically.

  • Hi,

It might be a problem with Excel Services it self. Have you tried to rebuild the service application?

After that if that does not work can you see if the ULS logs give you any indication of what may be the cause of this error?

    With Kind Regards,

  • Can you upload the logs to One Drive and let us know the path. We can review the logs and let you know what is happening at the backend.

    1. Open SharePoint Management shell on all the servers in the farm

    2. Type a command New-SPLogfile

    3. Repro the issue on all the servers in the farm

Collect the logs from all the servers and share it with us

  • In the logs, I see an error as below:

An operation failed because the following certificate has validation errors:\n\nSubject Name: CN=*.contoso, com, O="Contoso Information Systems and Management Consultants, Inc.", L=Montréal, S=Quebec, C=CA\nIssuer Name: CN=Entrust Certification Authority - L1C, OU="(c) 2009 Entrust, Inc.", OU=www.entrust.net/rpa is incorporated by reference, O="Entrust, Inc.", C=US\nThumbprint: 63D7D87521E5C7BCD74A24A1C38BBD45C47E2C37\n\nErrors:\n\n SSL policy errors have been encountered.  Error code '0x2'..

Can you try to follow solution provided in this article http://blogs.msdn.com/b/performancepoint/archive/2012/06/19/leveraging-performancepoint-in-https-enabled-sites.aspx. Though this talks about Performance Point but this should also resolve the error the issue for the Certificate errors in your environment.

Additionally, you can also try to create a new Excel Service Application (retaining the existing one) and Configure reporting for Project Server 2010 -http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee662106(v=office.14).aspx for any one of the PWA site.

Once this is done just change the Service Application Association such that the Web Application points to the new Excel Service Application. Then try to access the reports to verify if you still see the issue.

In case the issue persists with the new Service Application as well then the issue is not on the Excel Services and I would then suggest that you raise a support case with Microsoft for in-depth troubleshooting of the issue

  • Hello Dinesh,

here are the test we made and no-one solved the issue

    • Creating a new web application and a new project server instance
    • stop Excel Services service on either APP and WFE to check load balancing issue
    • assignment of a new excel services service for the new application

    something interesting we discovered:

this PWA instance is accessible from two zones one default and one internet.

while trying to access report from the default zone, issue is NOT happening, while trying from internet zone, issue is happening.

we tried to invert the zones and it's not making any difference!.

    any new idea?

    thanks agaoin for your help

    Jérome

  • A quick check. Is the Trusted File location & Data Connection Libraries configured for both the URLs one for Default Zone and the Internet Zone?

Do we have the Alternate Access Mapping Configured for the URLs?

Is anonymous authentication enabled on the Internet Zone?
