Cannot Sync over VPN connection on DPM 2012 RRS feed

  • I deployed DPM 2012 from a clean install.  Users on the LAN are syncing fine.  Users coming in over the VPN cannot sync.  I get an error that says. "Failed to connect to DPM server.  Error:Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from the call to a COM component.

    I'm guessing that the VPN is the issue - but I don't see any errors showing in the VPN log.  In fact, I don't even see any attempts at traffic.  I am running an SSL VPN.  The MS documentation says that DPM supports VPN on PPTP, SSTP, and L2TP.  The other VPN option I have is IPSEC.

    Is the SSL connection the problem or do I have something else going on?

  • I wanted to update this that installing System Center DPM SP1 and the latest client solved our issue.  Problem seemed isolated to our SSL VPN.
