stsadm importlist command gives value doesnot fall within expected range RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

I have exported a list to sandbox and trying to import it to prd.

I have used the following for export in sbx.

    stsadm -o gl-exportlist -url <list url> -filename <filename> -includeusersecurity -versions 4 -nofilecompression –excludedependencies

The export was successful.I have copied the .dat file from sandbox to prd and tried the import list command. Before running the import command I have verified that the list url is not existing in prd.

    stsadm -o gl-importlist -url <listurl in prd> -filename <filename>  -includeusersecurity -updateversions 2 -nofilecompression

This gave me "Value does not fall within the expected range" error.

Any idea what needs to be done here?Am I missing any steps to be done?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi ,

I am trying to import a list in Moss 2007 using the gl-importlist command.. I have used the -includeusersecurity parameter too. I am getting the following fatal error:

Value does not fall in the expected range.

The importing stops after this stating Import completed.First I have tried in Application server. And then in a WFE. It delivers the same output.

Kindly share your inputs on this.

    Thanks in advance!

  • Hi

Please, anyone have any idea about this.

I thought since the traget list isnt created it was giving this error. So I have created a list and ran the command again. Still observing the same error.

Any thoughts/quips or suggestion is highly appreciated.

    Many thanks

  • It is a common error message,

Couple of causes, The fields in list have incorrect column name\type

Use the SP deployment by hemendra, it should help.

If possible share import logs so we can analyze it
