Windows Azure Backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • I Would like to know is this wise to move to windows azure backup. I have a client who has 2 TB data we backup on Tapes almost every day. I am not sure in case of any failure how quickly I can restore the data from the cloud. what are the things I need to bring in the consideration before move to azure or it is best to stick with Tape backup. Any advise or suggestion much appreciate.

    Thanks

  • Azure Backup Server uses Disk-to-Disk-to-Cloud approach so you can use local disk for the short term retention and cloud for the long term retention. In this way, the most recent backups will be still available at the local storage attached to the Azure Backup Server/DPM Server and you do not have to restore it from the cloud.

This article explains how customers can enable backup and retention policies with Azure Backup: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/backup/backup-azure-backup-cloud-as-tape

    Hope this helps.
