SQL Compatibility with MOSS SP2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a MOSS 2007 SP2 farm and would like to host content databases executing on a SQL 2008 SP2 R1 server.

Will I be able to do this?

Answers

  • SP2 supports SQL Server R2, though there's no guidance around whether R2 SP1 is supported as well. From Determine hardware and software requirements (Office SharePoint Server):

    NoteNote:

Office SharePoint Server 2007 supports SQL Server 2008. However, you must install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP1 or later and Office SharePoint Server 2007 SP1 or later in order to use SQL Server 2008. Office SharePoint Server 2007 also supports SQL Server 2008 R2. Ensure that you have installed Office SharePoint Server 2007 with Service Pack 2 (SP2) or later.
