I did much research, but find little documentation about this error. As per your concern about the recent update, could you please provide the detailed build number of your Outlook 2016 then we can do further research on this?
Besides, what's the version of your Exchange sever, Exchange Online or Exchange On-premise?
If the issue continues, please try running Office Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT) and see if we can get any useful information
from the report.
