Outlook default attachment permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

When I add an attachment (onedrive or sharepoint) to outlook 2016 the default permissions is Recipients can edit.

If you by a mistake send a document and an external user can edit it that could possibly be disastrous, and there is way to litle information that lets the user know that the person(s) you are sending this to can edit the document.

Could you please tell us how we can set the default permissions to be "Recipients can view"?
If that's not possible this have been a horrible feature added to outlook.

  • Hi,

The Email attachments with OneDrive is the new feature in Outlook 2016. Based on my knowledge, there is no setting to set the default permission automatically.

Generally, recipients have permissions to edit by default, but you have the option to override these permissions before sending the attachment. We can click the following option to change the permission to “Recipients can view” manually.
