Alternate between different Outlook profiles for Office365 migration? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello, we plan to migrate mailboxes from an Exchange 2010 installation to Office365 and it is important that we can facilitate a smooth rollback in case we quickly would need to revert to the old mailserver.

The plan for that purpose is to utilize different profiles where we prior to changing MX-records set up an additional  Office365-profile pointing at Office365-server while keeping the old mailprofile for reverting purposes.

Outlook2016 only supports autodiscover though so in case you change autodiscover to the new Office365, the old mail profile will be overwritten with Office365 server settings when started.

The question is whether there is a convinient recommended way to alternate between Outlook profiles for Office365 migration purposes in order to easily facilitate rollback if needed?

Although inconvinient, it is possible to toggle autodiscover settings as DNS-record but autodiscover value is also cached, perhaps toggling at client level is better?
