Projects in Project Center based on logged in User Custom Field RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey there!

    I have a requirement.

I want to display projects on project center page based on the logged in user's custom field data. Is it possible thru OOB functionality or else do we need to write any custom code.

    Thanks in advance

    Regards

  • Hello Ashwath

There is nothing out of the box to do this.  However, it sounds like you want some kind of filtering, based on the user.   For example, a project manager only sees his projects.   This functionality is available if RBS and Secure Groups aresetup properly.

  • Hi Michael

Thanks for the input. I think this would solve my query.

  • As Michael suggests leveraging the security capabilities available with Project Server will address your requirement - the concept of groups on its own is quite elegant, for example team members will see a limited number of Project Views of the projects they are involved in but will have no edit rights on those projects, they will not see projects where they are not team members. The RBS provides more specific "divide and rule" capabilities.

There are plenty of articles about security and RBS available from Microsoft.com like this for example - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/project/plan-groups-categories-and-rbs-in-project-server
