Security groups and what they are tied to.... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have seen this question before, but asked a different way. Is there a way to take a security group and plug it into a Powershell script and find out what it is used for... Not just for shares, but also other things like lnk shortcut security and or access to citrix groups... I have quite a few security groups that I generally would know what they are used for, but some I think they were made for a certain purpose but someone along the way started using them for other things.  So... is there a powershell to tell you how a certain security group is being used?

  • There are third party tools that can do this  but there is not command in Windows that can do this.

  • Thanks. I was hoping for a Powershell.... Do you know the name of one of the better ones?

  • No.  Search and you will find dozens.
