NLS - failover - DirectAccess RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can we add two NLS (validate) in DirectAccess configuration NLS failure scenario ? If yes, Will the fallover is automatic in such case ?

In case of NLS failure, will DirectAccess keep on working and behaving normally like printing etc either through HTTPS (assuming they are outside) or through regular NAT64/DNS 64 if do not detect a change.

Will NLS failure impact their work. What are the impacts during NLS failure ?

  • With DA, you can only configure one URL for NLS, but that resource can be load balanced for disaster recovery/failover, using any standard web LB technologies. If the NLS fails, then inteternal clients that are DA participants will fail to detect that they are on the internal network, and will enable DA, which may cause problems (not to mention overload your DA servers). Clients that are outside will not be affected, and should continue to be able to use DA without a problem.
