  • Have you checked in event log?

Try running msi file using msiexec.exe command with log switch (msiexec /i FimSync.msi /L*v logfile.txt). Find "return value: 3" in this log and paste here at least 10 lines logged before this "return value" string.

    1. On the FIM Machine, open the Services.mmc
    2. Find the Forefront Identity Manager Synchronization Service and open the properties
    3. Select Logon Tab
    4. Replace the UPN information with a DOMAIN\UserName format
    5. Click Ok
    6. Restart the Forefront Identity Manager Synchronization Service to make sure it would be running fine
    7. Stop FIM Sync Service
    8. Execute the installation of the patch
