Is there a way to make private views public? RRS feed

  • Question

  • On our intranet we have a custom list that is accessed by a group of about 30 people. These folks have been making private views and now they want to share them with each other. Is there a way to do that? Or, is there a way for me, as administrator to set these views they made to public?

There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you are trying to accomplish.

  • Hi,

It’s not supported to make private view public in CA in SharePoint 2013.

If you don’t want to make it public by coding, you can try the solution Croute1 provided above.

    For more detailed steps:

    1. Create a new view based on the private view.

    2. Press F12 in the keyboard, select the radio button before the Create a Public View option by Select element button.

    3. Delete the “disabled=”””, then the Create a Public View option is available to check, you can check the Create a Public View option.

    4. Click Save button.

If you’re confused about select an element by F12, you can refer to:

You can use powershell/ C# to copy the view into public view.

  • I don't have Powershell.  Any other way?  From central admin, perhaps?
