Remote Desktop on Windows Server 2012 R2

    Question

  • Hi,

Near the end of our 120 day grace period for Terminal server we purchased 5 licenses and applied them to the server.  Below is one of the error messages I get and no one can logon to the server remotely.  The network has only 1 server so it acts as the licensing server and AD DS.

The Remote Desktop license server could not be registered as a service connection point in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). Ensure that there is network connectivity between the license server and AD DS. To register the license server as a service connection point in AD DS, use Review Configuration in the RD Licensing Manager tool.

  • In order to reach the most experts in RDS technologies, you would be better served to post your question in the RDS forum found at https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=winserverTS.  Though there are some RDS experts who follow this forum, in order to keep the forums relevant to all, it is recommended to post to the appropriate forum.

  • Hi,

Open RD Licensing Manager, select and click you server name, then, click Action - Review Configuration. Click Publish in AD DS is this option is available.

If problem persisits, please make sure that you had correctly configured the Licensing server on your RDS deployment:
RD CB – Server Manager – Remote Desktop Services – Deployment Overview – Tasks – Edit Properties – RD licensing – manually enter licensing server address and save the change.
