How can I permanently delete key from Windows XP installation RRS feed

  • Question

  •  I'm entrepreneur from Russia, and Windows XP is still very popular in my country.  As for me I try to use only free software like Linux OS and its tools for my needs and service diagnostics etc, but my clients like Microsoft software, because it is easy for using, that's why I have to  deal with Microsoft OS.

I have  personal license key - Windows XP Pro RTL and I'd like to make Acronis Image this OS with all applications installing in it and use this image for deployment system with its applications on my client's PCs.

How can I permanently delete my key from system before making its image?  My client will get this system without license key and have to activate it with own key.

  • Before taking Acronis image, you shoul "sysprep" your installation.

    1. Download and extract Windows XP SP3 Deployment Tools

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11282

    2. Run from CMD window

    sysprep /generalize /oobe /shurtdown

    Important

After sysprep shuts down computer, you must not boot its OS before capturing image.

    3. Boot Into Acronis and capture image.

  • If I use "sysprep" should I delete serial key from my original OS before, or "sysprep" delete it itself?
