Clear/reset all unique permissions from site and subsites...

Question
-
The question that was brought up to me: "I have taken over as the Site Manager for my organization, but I believe that the Site Manager before me used a lot of unique permissions by name (not using groups) throughout the site, sub-sites, lists/libraries, folders, and items/files. There is a lot of stuff that I can read but not modify, and I think there is a lot of stuff that I cannot even see.
If I want to start over and fix the organization's permissions, what is the best way to do this. Can a Top Level Site Administrator EASILY fix this for me (I know they can go into every item and check/correct permissions...I want to know how they can efficiently wipe out and reset all permissions to inherit from the main organization's site).
Or do I need to go to the server admins and have them run a Powershell script? And if that is the solution, what is the script because our SharePoint Server Admins are not very experienced and typically offer limited if any support."
I have been trying to research the best case solution but come up short...any suggestions for this?

Hi Brian- here are links to PowerShell scripts you can use. There's more than one link because one script doesn't update everything:

Note that there are multiple organizations falling under the single Top Level Site, so allowing the individual to act as the TLSM even on a temporary basis is not possible. Is there a way to give a user Top Level Site Admin "LIKE" permissions over only their own site? Full Control permissions do not work if something has broken inheritance within the site by another previous site manager with full control permissions...
