Word memory issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have developed a program that generate rtf reports and everything works fine until some document get bigger. Then Word 2007 hangs and complain that there isn't enough memory.

The files can be as small as 1mb when this happens so I think it has to do with some memory consuming inside the rtf file.

I have a lot of bullet lists in these files and the problem seem to be related to them.

Also, how can I debug rtf-files?

I have Windows 10 and I have the latest updates.

  • Hi Sir,

Have you tried to use open a RTF file not created from the java program in Word 2007? If Word can open the other RTF files correctly, this issue might be caused by the java program. You might ask the question in MSDN forum that I mentioned above.

  • Hi,

Do you mind telling more detailed info about your program? Was this program just a Word add-in or a separate program? Was this error pop-up when opening RTF report with Word 2007?

If you get the error message like this "There is not enough memory or disk space to   complete the operation", please try to see this KB:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/813997

If you want to debug the RFT file, I recommend you post the question to MSDN forum:

    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/home?forum=worddev&filter=alltypes&sort=lastpostdesc

    Hope it's helpful.
