KMS activation of office 2010 RRS feed

    after following several Microsoft KB, we have narrowed down our kms office activation error to the following error:

    0xC004F042
    		The Software Protection Service determined that the specified Key Management Service (KMS) cannot be used.  KMS client Mismatch between the KMS client and the KMS host. This error occurs when a KMS client contacts a KMS host that cannot activate the client software. This can be common in mixed environments that contain application and operating system-specific KMS hosts, for example.

    unfortunately Microsoft does not provide a resolution for this or any tips.

    just as an fyi windows is activating fine, it just seems to fail on office.

    Are you using a Windows KMShost, for co-hosting Office KMShost?

    Have you installed the Office2010 VLpack (update/patch), and installed/added the Office2010 KMShost product key on that host?

    on the Office2010 KMShost, you can display all current KMShost licensing status information; (or pipe into a text file like this)

    [elevated/admin console CMD prompt]

    c:\windows\system32>cscript slmgr.vbs /dlv all > c:\windows\temp\slmout.txt

    Does the output show the correctly licensed and activated Office2010 KMShost feature?
