Windows XP Pro (SP 3) does not allow log in after hibernate RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I hibernate my laptop and return back to log in, it does not accept the password -- tells me I'm using incorrect password. I have to reboot the laptop every time this happens. BTW, this problem is sporadic and started about 6 weeks ago.

I noticed a similar issue in Windows 7, and the suggested cause of the problem was stated to be the NumLock key. I tried logging in with the NumLock key both on and off, and I can log in without problems. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I did notice that whenever this problem occurred the hard-drive was being accessed a lot by the OS.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
