How to track process for locked files ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

Currently we have an application that runs through IIS to provide a web based APP for a team.  They use this app for line of business work however every so often a user will randomly get kicked out of the application and forced to log back in.  When looking at the IIS logs we get a error stating the file is locked or being access by another process in the cache directory.   Now this happens randomly and we haven't been able to find a way to re-produce this error so I was looking for a way to track the process for when it locks so I can see what other application or process is locking the file.

Now I know you can do this with Process Explorer however Process Explorer doesn't have any logging features.  I need to be able to setup a log so it tracks it over a day or two so when the error does occur I can see what else was accessing that file.

How would I go about accomplishing this ?
