SteadyState in Domain - Local User Profile RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using a customized XP installation CD to redirect "Documents and Settings" to D: Drive.
The PC is joined to a Domain.
    Using SteadyState 2.5.

Afterwhich, we turned on WDP. Setting is to "Remove all changes at restart"
Previously logged in account before WDP is activated has no problem.
All new accounts login cannot retained their setting inside D: Drive.

    Example,
JohnDoe is a account from the Domain.
If I login with user JohnDoe for the first time, under Drive D: we will see "D:\Documents and Settings\JohnDoe".
    Restart the PC.
Login with JohnDoe for the second time, there will be a "D:\Documents and Settings\JohnDoe.TestDomain"

Due to this, user's "Desktop" and "My Documents" are not saved in between sessions.
Is there any solutions to this?

  • Hi Ivan, thanks for the post. I'd like to inform you that we cannot exclude some folders from WDP.

  • After some research, it seems that the problem for this is because C:\Windows\System32\Config is always reverse to the state before WDP is activated.
This resulted in SSID for the login user not saved in the registry under "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\ProfileList".

Is there any way to make define folders to be excluded from the WDP?
