How to share a single document library with multiple sites RRS feed

  • I wanted to see if there was a way to share a single document library with multiple sites. My idea was to centralize the library as our document repository so that multiple copies of things were not flying around and all sites could contribute to this one library.

    Currently I have 5 sites (Engineering, OPS, SALES etc)

    Is this the base way to do this?

  • You can use the Content By Search Web Part to pull the data through. Beyond that it's a bit tricky as Site Collections are isolated security areas and it's tricky to get data between them.

    I'd create a CSWP that shows the items and add a link through to the library so that users can get to it quickly and easily.
