  • LTIApply failed while trying to run the following command:

        About to run command: takeown.exe /F "C:\bootmgr"
ZTI ERROR - Unhandled error returned by LTIApply: The system cannot find the file specified.
     (-2147024894  0x80070002)

So the question is... *which* file is missing on your test machine? TakeOwn.exe or c:\BootMgr ?

What happens when you try to run that command from an elevated prompt?

Are you running with an account that has administrator privileges?

Thats the porblem, I can not figure out what is missing and how to get it back. I am using an account with administrative privileges. How would I get that back if I was missing takeown.exe or c:\bootmgr

  • I'm asking you if the files/folders exist on the machine? Yes or No.

If MDT Detects that there is a \BootMgr file on the local machine it will attempt to run TakeOwn.exe to ensure that MDT can modify the correct files. However, if you are running on XP, that command won't exist by default.

The question then becomes, *why* is there a \BootMgr file on an XP machine? \BootMgr is a boot configuration file used in Visa and above, it is not used in XP.

Are these machines that have been used in dual-boot configurations? Why is the \BootMgr file there?
