Windows 7 dissapearing network printers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having this problems with our Windows 7 workstation, randomly all printers desapear and our users are forced to restart their computers to be able to print again.

    I found this link http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2012/02/24/microsoft-fixit-for-printing.aspx

But i think it only solve the problem but what caused it.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi

Are any errors logged in event viewer for the spooler service?

  • Hi,

Without your specific environment, it's hard to point out the root directly.

Can you remove the printer from those machines and clean your spooler and then again install them back ?

    follow these steps:

    1. Stop you spooler (If it is running)
    2. Remove the printers from the list,
    3. Clear the spooler folder ("%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers") delete all for this folder.
    4. Try to start the printer spooler, then try install the printers again.

In addition, please refer to this thread:
