Updating the BIOS during image deployment RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Mates,

Please is it practicable and adviseable to try to update the BIOS of computer during imaging? I am using MDT2010 for my deployment.

What could be the implication if any?

    Cheers!

  • If you need to update the BIOS (and some recommend only doing so if you have a valid need) do it after you have applied the image.  If you do a BIOS update and apply an image afterwards, you could end up with an unbootabe system (not likely, however).  In my opinion, a BIOS update should not be combined with imaging--but on a separate schedule.

  • Thanks Darien for your response.

I also don't think it is proper to have a BIOS update built into Task Sequence during image deployment. Especially I am afraid of the Blue Screen of Death (BOD).

    Cheers!

  • Hi,

Do you think this can be accomplished during post image deployment? If YES, any thought or ways of doing it?
