When using wprui.exe for a boot trace, after autologon, no UI appears and DWM appears to freeze RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I am attempting to use wprui.exe to generate a trace to solve a slow logon issue.

I can configure the trace without issue, however after the first reboot and autologon, DWM becomes unresponsive and the UI for wprui.exe doesn't come up.  I must hard reboot the machine, which allows it to boot and record the information into the ETL. This occurs for every iteration that I capture.

xbootmgr.exe does not have this issue.  Every trace I capture states that events have been dropped, and I'm guessing it's because of the staggered reboot process.

How do I solve this issue?

  • Hi,

After using WPR generate boot trace log, is there any infomation could be find that relate with this event during system boot?

Please check the boot trace log carefully if it identify this events?

In addition, if your system had 3rd application or service boot with system, try to disable them for test.
