  • Question

  • Hi,

I have tried all the steps exactly mentioned in http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/911ac246-3196-41fa-ac7a-0227910985ad?prof=required by Robinson, but couldn't my logon screen changed. It still shows the default image.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Chris

Use the utility from the link that Arctic Boom posted above. This utility only does one thing, change the logon image.

This is a utility that has 2 steps.

    1. Select a picture.
    2. Click the Set Button.

It makes all of the associated changes automatically.

I have used it for months and it works very well.

    Hope this helps.

  • Try the more easy to use tool "Tweaks.com Logon changer for Windows 7" which is easier to operate to get the job done. Download and more information at http://tweaks.com/software/tweakslogon/

  • This may help you:

    http://www.withinwindows.com/2009/03/15/windows-7-to-officially-support-logon-ui-background-customization/

And while I'm at it here's somthing for the default usere picture:

And did you know you can change the background image by modifying the resources of the file "c:\windows\system32\imagres.dll" directly?

  • If the issue persists after trying the suggestions in the above thread, could you please let us know which version of Windows 7 are you using? If you are using Windows 7 RC, this may occur.

  • Hi Andreas,

I'm scared to use the Tweaks tool. So I'm looking for something steps which I can perform manually.

    Hi Linda,

    I'm using Windows 7 Build 7600. It's not a RC copy.

    Hi Defcon1,

I have tried the steps mentioned in the link. No Joy.

FYI : I have 2 user accounts : 1 Admin ; 1 Standard (will this make any difference). I don't want to delete any of'em.

    Thanks

  • That did the trick. It's kind of like "Stardock" for Vista but better because it uses Windows 7 built in capability to change the default image which is nice.
