Increase OST limit to 100GB, but the Office folder in Regedit is missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • We need to increase the Outlook OST limit from 50GB to 100GB, as this user is using an O365 E3 license.

    Reading from some this link https://support.microsoft.com/en-my/help/832925/how-to-configure-the-size-limit-for-both-pst-and-ost-files-in-outlook it can be modified by changing the registry value.

    However when navigating the regedit, we couldn't go to this path

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\PST

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\PST

    We can only navigate up to here:  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft

    What would be the next step/s?

  • Hi,

    You could try manually creating the value and DWORD under this path to check the results.

    (Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.

    Please refer to this article about how to back up and restore the registry in Windows)

    Besides, we could also set this via Group Policy. The settings for adjusting the maximum file size for pst-files and ost-files can be found in the section;

    User Configuration-> Administrative Templates-> Microsoft Outlook <version>-> Miscellaneous-> PST Settings.

    The following 2 settings need to be modified;

    Large PST: Absolute maximum size

    Large PST: Size to disable adding new content

    Hope this is helpful to you.

    Regards,

    Perry
