PS 2007 - Restore project and workspace RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I want to restore a project plan and its workspace.

I already re-linked all of the Project Server databases (Archive, Draft, Published and Reporting db) to a new PWA and associate it with Content db corresponding.

At this step the PWA restored shows correctly the different projects and workspace links. Next I executed the ‘Project Workspace Site Relinker tool’ but the workspaces still unavailable.

Do you know how I can restore the target workspace?

  • Your statement is not necessarily correct.  The databases restore PWA, and also restore the links - but if you can't hit the websites by typing the URL directly into your browser, then there was an issue with the workspace restore.

My guess is that you reprovisioned a new PWA site using your restored databases.  This created a new site collection, and a new PWA site, but didn't restore your workspaces.  In theory, you should be able to hit them at the old URL (i.e. PWA not PWA2) if everything went smoothly.

  • If you type in the URL of the workspace, can you access it?

  • No. When I click on a workspace showed on the home page I receive a 'webpage cannot be found'. Indeed the page opened is http://<servername>:8080/PWA/Conform%20IT while my pwainstancename is 'PWA2'. When fix the URL with http://<servername>:8080/PWA2/Conform%20IT it does not change.

  • You might want to look at how you restored the workspaces.  My guess is that
there's an issue with the workspaces themselves and the Relinker tool doesn't
    see them.

    1) Are you sure you're hitting the right site collection for the restored
    workspaces?
    2) Can you recheck how you imported them?  In theory, you should have attached
the content database, and as I recall (it's been a while), you should then
be able to hit the workspaces.

  • The Relinker tool says:

9/12/2010 16:17:09 : INFO: The site for project M-01-3103 with GUID f4a98e8b-d4f8-4188-b147-1fa018f04948 does not exist in the current web application.

    For all projects.

I dont undestand. The databases have been correctly re-attached to the new pwa. The content database have been also relinked to its webapp adress with the stsadm -o addcontentdb command. Otherwise I will not have access pwa restored with the list of projetcs...

    Thanks for your help.
