DPM CPWrapper fails to start RRS feed

  • Question

  • DPM flagged one of my SQL server with an error:

The DPM service was unable to communicate with the protection agent on SQLDOC2.hcpss.org. (ID 52 Details: An operation on a socket could not be performed because the system lacked sufficient buffer space or because a queue was full (0x80072747))

Checking the server, space is not an issue.  What I did find is that the DPM CPWrapper service is DISABLED.  When I try to start the service, I get:

    Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 5000
    Date: 2/26/2014
    Time: 2:21:16 PM
    User: N/A
    Computer: SQLDOC2
    Description:
    EventType clr20r3, P1 cpwrapperservicehost.exe, P2 1.0.523.0, P3 4f07580d, P4 cpwrapperservicehost, P5 1.0.523.0, P6 4f07580d, P7 14, P8 10, P9 system.nullreferenceexception, P10 NIL.

This is where I'm stuck ... any advice?

  • Patience ... two days later, it seems to have resolved itself.  I verified the system did not reboot.  No answers to the cause, but it is no longer an issue.
