  • Backup Metadata Enumeration Failed Alert is raised when SharePoint writer fails to report writer metadata. Check for the issues with SharePoint writer. You can reconfigure the SharePoint writer by running "ConfigureSharePoint.exe -EnableSharePointProtection" on the SharePoint Front end Web Server. Ensure you provide farm admin credentials for this command.

Irrespective of this alert, DPM will go ahead with the backups of the databases when you run consistency check or recovery point job from the UI or if the scheduled job runs. This alert indicates that the Sharepoint Writer metadata could not collected during the backup and hence the latest configuaration of the farm was not detected.

  • Excellent thank you.  I remember having to run that command once already, which is why I was concerned that it popped up again.

  • I really do wish there was a little less presumption that people know as much as these 'Guru's'; perhaps a little on how this command is ran, how you should run it with admin credentials? If so, perhaps another fault would have been quickly resolved without trawling the internet and forums.

    Thanks.
