Change booking type in activity RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi.

In MSP 2003 Professional you can choose if a resource is supposed to be commited or proposed from inside the resource plan. And if you change from the resource plan the resource no longer can assign time to the project.

Is it possible to do the same in MSP 2007? And if the resource have reported time in the project, and I as an Admin changes his bookinb type from commited to propsed, his reported time will still be in the resource plan, right? Because if i delete a resource from the resource plan all his time will be spread on the rest of the resources in that resource plan.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, and ofcourse, answer my question...=)

    Thanks in advance!

  • Follow-up-question, if you don't mind.

If i change booking type for a resource in a specific resource plan and that resource has time reported in that resource plan, what happens to the reported time? Is the person erased from the resource plan and the resource's time as well?

  • HI Chip

When you say "time reported" in the resource plan what exactly do you mean? You can only enter actual time against a resource in the project schedule. If you mean that, then the impact of changing the booking type will not impact the actual time recorded.

    Hope this helps

  • What I mean with time reported is the following: The time the resources report to the plan via Web Access.

The problem is that we setup new plans each year for administrative time (Absence, vacation etc) because the amount of info makes them really slow. So when this project is closed and the next year's resource plan is made public the activities from the closed resource plan is left in the Web Access view of the resource.

So to get rid of the "old" activity/resource plan I want to change booking type from committed to proposed. But only if the actual time reported in the resource plan stays unaffected. This because we use last years numbers for comparisons and so on...

Did I make it any clearer or did I just confuse you even more?
