Corrupted User Account RRS feed

  • Question

  • The link to my Music folder appears to be corrupted - when I right click Music>Properties from the start button, there is no information with everything blank.

However, when I look under Users, the Music folder and contents is there.

Windows Media Player can see everything in the Music folder and works fine.

But iTunes claims that it cannot find the "iTunes" folder which has a default location in the Music folder even though it's definitely there.

As I can install and run iTunes successfully from a different user account, I think what I need to do is resestablish the link between the Music folder under users and the dead shortcut accessed from the start menu.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks ......

  • I'm having  the same problem.

iTunes says to download Tweak UI from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

According to their screenshots, you can re-set the location of your My Music folder from there.

However, for me, the My Music folder was NOT in the dropdown list of files to reset!

If you wish to follow the iTunes guide, you can find it here:

If you've found another way to fix things, please let me know. Im having lots of trouble. Smile

Further searching has found that if you also cannot see 'My Music' in the dropdown menu, then HOLDING DOWN 'SHIFT' as you click on iTunes to open it, will prompt it to ask if you wish to create a new library.

Do so and it will ask you where to put it. iTunes will then open as normal and you will simply have to re-import the files you want.

A little time-consuming, but at least we can open the darn program now.
