Updating wim file RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to update mu wim files "x32 and x64"

I think the process is very simple.

Get wim file, mount, /Add-Package from WSUS and /commit . DONE.

However DISM can add packages in .msu format. And on WSUS "WsusContent" i can only see .cab and .exe.

So when i am trying to /Add-Package i am getting an error:

    Error: 87

No packages were found that require processing.

    What am i missing?

When i try to go inside each folder i am getting "The specified package is not applicable to this image."

Is there any way to identify what is applicable to my wim file?

    I am thinking that

\WsusContent\ has updates for xp and x32 and x64.

    Thank you.

  • What's the full dism command you are using.  It should be like this (and works for both .CAB and .MSU):

    dism /Image:C:\MountPoint /Add-Package /PackagePath:<packagepath_name>

  • dism /image:"C:\Win7_x64_Ent_WIM" /Add-Package /PackagePath:"C:\Source\WIM\WsusContent\"

And then i have about 248 folders in the WsusContent folder.

I think most of them are not applicable.

And is there any way to automate the process sicnce i need to go into every folder?
