SCOM 2012 DNS MP no response time? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Technet,

I need to set the DNS resolution time settings to <1 second but I can't find this in the 2012 MP. Below is a snippet from the 2008 MP but it has been removed from 2012 apparently.

Can someone walk me through adding this to the MP? Here is an example of what I don't see in the 2012 DNS MP

Seems like there is 1 rule:

    http://systemcentercore.com/?GetElement=Microsoft.Windows.DNSServer.2003.Rule.CollectLocalResolutionTime&Type=Rule&ManagementPack=Microsoft.Windows.DNSServer.2003&Version=6.0.6480.0

    and the monitor:

    http://systemcentercore.com/?GetElement=Microsoft.Windows.DNSServer.2003.Monitor.ResolutionTime&Type=UnitMonitor&ManagementPack=Microsoft.Windows.DNSServer.2003&Version=6.0.6480.0

  • Hello,

Yes, there is no resolution time monitor in DNS 2012 management pack, I suggest you look into the XML file of 2008 management pack, and create you own monitor for DNS 2012 to monitor resolution time.

    Regards,

    Yan Li

Thanks Yan, can you do me a favor and point me to a link that closely follows this task? All I can find online is ground up authoring with visual studio and all that. I'm not sure if that's all necessary since I'm just converting the 2008MP to 2012.?
