Data Protection Manager protecting Hyper-V VMs on Nutanix RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

at the moment we are looking for a solution to get DPM working with Nutanix.

Situation: Hyper-V VMs located on a Nutanix Cluster with SMB3 storage. If I try to protect a VM, DPM always tells me I need to install the DPM Agent on the storage server. Nutanix uses local storage in each node which is presented as a SMB3 Share. So of course it is not possible to install an agent. Veeam and Commvault seem to work with Nutanix also using VSS snapshots.
    DPM Version is 2012 R2 with UR6, Hyper-V on Server 2012 R2.

Is there a possibility to get this to work with Nutanix?

    Thanks,

    Sven

  • Thanks,

I thought that this would be the answer. More and more this gets a big gap. Because more and more Systems offer SMB3 Support. And it is Microsoft Technology (Remote VSS). I hope this is on the roadmap for the feature.
