IE and Windows Server automatic prompt for downloads RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi! I'm learning Office 365. And now I'm on how to enable directory synchronization. But there is one problem I can't figure out. For example, when I want to run Office 365 readiness check tool from portal.office.com/tools on Windows Server 2016 via IE, I can't do this because nothing happens. I guess it's because of some security settings. When I run that tool on Windows 10 via IE, .NET 3.5 assistant window is prompting up and I can press "Run" button.

I have tried to edit GP settings to allow automatic prompt for downloads, but it doesn't help - https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd565669(v=vs.85).aspx

How I can run this tool on Windows Server via IE? Thanks!

  • Hi,

Server versions of Windows run IE in an Enhanced security mode. Basically IE is locked down with the maximum security settings (even on the Administrators account)...

Use a windows client and IE11 instead to download software from or browse public access Internet Sites.
