Windows XP Offline File Cache Extraction Issue RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have a rather urgent problem. I have a client with a Windows XP system that has files missing that are in their offline cache. I'm trying to use csccmd to extract from the cache (either directly or via a copy of the CSC folder) and am getting the following:

    c:\> csccmd /extract:\\<server>\<share> /target:c:\extracted /recurse
You do not have the necessary privilege (SeBackupPrivilege) for this operation.
    System error 5 has occurred.
    Access is denied.

I am logged into the workstation as a domain administrator. I have put the Domain Administrators group in the local Administrators group on the PC (as well as Backup Operators for no good reason). I have run ntrights as follows:

    c:\> ntrights +r SeBackupPrivilege -u <NT domain>\administrator -m \\<pc name>
    Granting SeBackupPrivilege to <NT Domain>\administrator on \\<pc name>... successful

but I still cannot run the extract. Google has been no help. The files are definitely in the CSC folder, I can copy them and put extensions on them and they open. I'd do that, but there are thousands of them. Can anyone give a pointer?

    Thank you.
